In January of this year, a number of expensive consumer electronic devices were stolen from an apartment at a Florida apartment complex in Central Florida. The items included a laptop, expensive headphones, and a television.
In fact, there were electronic thefts in three different units at the complex that resulted in almost $6000 worth of items. It’s thought that the apartments left doors to the outside unlocked since there was no forced entry.
Either that or it was an inside job of some kind. A resident left her apartment at around 11:30 at night to visit a friend’s house one night and her electronic items were all missing when she returned in the morning. This indicates that the thefts likely occurred sometime in the night or early morning.
Two more residents reported stolen items at the same time. This included the theft of their car keys. Additional stolen items included another laptop, a Nikon camera, and a wallet which had an ID in it as well as credit cards and debit cards. Another Playstation 4 set was also stolen in addition to games and controllers for it.
It was later found out that there were actually two more electronic thefts at the same apartment that only became apparent when a deputy went to the complex to investigate the reports. These additional electronic thefts included the loss of more car keys and an Xbox One system along with the game and controller.
